Privacy Policy

Last updated 14 July 2026

Template notice for the site owner: this page is a starting draft, not legal advice. Have counsel review it against your actual data flows before launch, and delete this box.

ZenSurf is built so that there is as little to write here as possible. The browser does not send us your browsing history, your searches, your bookmarks, or an identifier that links your installation to you.

What the app collects

Sync

If you turn on sync, your bookmarks, settings and open Surf Stacks are encrypted on your device with a key derived from your passphrase. Our sync server stores ciphertext, a random device identifier and a timestamp. We cannot read your data, and we cannot recover it if you lose your passphrase. You may point sync at a server you run instead.

What this website collects

Third parties

Downloads and source code are hosted on GitHub, which applies its own privacy policy to requests you make there. Anything you type into a search box in ZenSurf goes to the search engine you selected — we are not in the middle of that request.

Your rights

Because we hold almost nothing tied to you, most access or deletion requests resolve to "there was no record". You can still contact us and we will tell you exactly what, if anything, exists.

Changes

Material changes to this policy will be announced in the release notes and on this page, with the date above updated.
